To help slow global warming at your home you can do many things. Such as: use energy efficient light bulbs, clean air filters regularly, having heating and cooling equipment tuned annually by a professional, seal and insulate your home, use green power (an environmentally friendly electricity that comes from renewable energy sources), use a push mower because it emits no fuels or gas into the air, and use water efficiently. These are all ways that we can help slow global warming.

Global warming also affects water availability and the water cycle. The changes in temperature, precipitation patterns and snowmelt affect water availability. The increase in temperatures will cause more water to be evaporated into the atmosphere. The water available will change from area to area. In areas where precipitation increases then water availability will probably have little or no change. But in areas where precipitation decreases or stays relatively the same, then there may be less water available. Temperatures will also increase at the poles. This temperature increase will melt glaciers and cause waters all over the world to increase. If all of the glaciers melt, the oceans level will raise and a lot of coast land will disappear and be completely submerged underwater.

Global warming affects agriculture and food supply. The extreme weather changes like droughts, floods, and sever storms can hurt crops immensely. Climate is very important in growing crops. Since global warming affects the weather so much with the rising temperatures, agriculture is at a great risk. The main factors that connect climate change and agricultural productivity are: average temperature increase, change in rainfall amount and patterns, rising atmospheric concentrations of CO2, pollution levels such as tropospheric ozone, and change in climatic variability and extreme events.

Global warming is a very important issue because it affects many things. It affects human health. The increasing temperatures that are a result of global warming can cause more air and water pollution which can be harmful to humans as well as other creatures. These increases can also cause more heat waves in the summer and extreme cold during the winters. Both of these are very hard on the human body. Especially people with heart problems, asthma, the elderly, the very young and the homeless can have an even more difficult time. With the increase of air pollution due to global warming, it is projected that respiratory diseases will increase. Also, ground-level ozone can harm lung tissue and rising temperatures and other pollutants like nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, cause this to become even more harmful.

To help slow global warming, the U.S. Federal government has created a comprehensive policy that addresses climate change. Its three main objectives are to slow the growth of emissions, strengthen science, technology and institutions, and enhance international cooperation. It also has established major government-wide programs to improve climate change studies and technology. Most of the policies deal with ways of reducing greenhouse gases from being released into the air.

Global warming is “the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans”. This has been happening ever since the mid-twentieth century and will continue to keep happening. Global warming is mainly caused by something called the greenhouse effect. The earth’s atmosphere absorbs solar energy and also radiates solar energy back into space. A lot of the energy that is going back to space is absorbed by “greenhouse” gases in the atmosphere. The greenhouse gases cause the atmosphere to get thicker, which causes more of the solar energy to be reflected towards the earth’s surface, causing the earth to be warmer than it was originally.

The topic I chose to do my blogs on this quarter is global warming. I have done some studying on this subject already for some classes but that was more of a basic overview. I am interested into going into it with more detail and finding out more information about it.
